James Latham Covid19 Statement: 18.03.20

We continue to review the fast changing and increasing spread of the Covid-19 Coronavirus, with the health of customers and colleagues our fundamental priority. We have plans in place to ensure these remain our focus as the situation develops. We are taking appropriate action to reduce the risk of infection amongst our staff.

Security of supply: Our disaster recovery and business continuity plans have been reviewed, with technology employed to allow staff to work from any location and in the event of any restrictions on movement. We are fortunate to operate from 12 depots nationwide and hold stocks at numerous port stock locations. In the event of an outbreak or restrictions at any one of our sites we can transfer business to another site and maintain supply to customers.

Stock and supply lines:  We are continually monitoring the supply position globally and reviewing any issues that may arise. We are in regular dialogue with all our suppliers and are monitoring our shipments closely. James Latham as a group is well-positioned for stock in the UK and Ireland and at this stage is not seeing any serious disruption. This situation is fluid so we will continue to communicate this position highlighting known delays or possible shortages in the supply chain should they occur.

Customer service and availability: Our customer service levels remain unchanged at all twelve depots across the UK & Ireland, with either on-site or remote personnel working together to ensure orders are fulfilled. Our external sales team have been asked to work in accordance with Government advice and cancel all non-critical business meetings or travel. They will maintain regular contact with our customers remotely via telephone or email. If you would like to receive the latest updates from James Latham please sign up here

In Ireland, more advanced self-isolation measures have been introduced by the government. We expect that all our employees in Ireland abide by these social distancing rules. At the moment the social distancing rules in the UK are not compulsory, but it is likely they will be shortly and we expect UK employees also to follow the Government recommendations.

Policy on Deliveries & collections: We will still be delivering goods to customers, receiving supplies from vendors and fulfilling collections. Abiding by the government’s 2 metre proximity advice, physical interaction with other people will be kept to a minimum and we will try as much as possible to maintain this distance. Whilst collections are allowed, we confirm that only pre-agreed collections are accepted, and customers that arrive outside of these agreements will be turned away. This is designed to reduce the interaction between us and third parties.

Our goal is to continue to provide the same high service quality you have come to expect. We have good stock levels at all depots and ask that all customers continue to place orders in accordance with their demands.

Delivery reliability and transport: We will do our utmost to ensure that orders are delivered on the confirmed delivery date. We are also working with our external hauliers to ensure there is sufficient availability of drivers. If your company has introduced any new procedures or restrictions with goods-in/receiving areas, we would ask that you inform us of these immediately, so we can communicate this to our operations team and prevent any unnecessary delays on site.

Regular communication: We continue to closely monitor the latest government guidelines as this situation develops. We will ensure that we keep you updated and informed through regular communication.
